Ghiradelli's
Went to Ghiradelli Square in San Francisco with some friends today (and also my sister who shall remain nameless but check out her website at
www.calithwain.com). We got dinner at an upscale seafood restaurant at pier 39 with a great view of the sea lions, the golden gate bridge, and alcatraz. The Alaskan Halibut in a garlic butter sauce was quite tasty. We then walked over to Ghiradelli Square, which was our main objective. I've gone there many times but never actually ate at the restaurant. Sadly it was something of a disappointment. I think mostly because I went to Fenton's so recently. There is no comparison. The ice cream was average, as was the whipped cream and cherry. I do have to give some points for the chocolate sauce, which was great, but the experience overall wasn't all I'd hoped for. At least I finally tried it and now I know I wasn't missing much. We went next door and took a brief stroll through the chocolate shop (it was right there so we had to) and then we wandered down to the beach for a bit. A pleasant evening overall. Much better than the last two days of moving stuff from Davis to Saratoga anyway. A brief respite was appreciated.
