  Living in the City

I don't think I've ever heard so many languages spoken on the street before. I catch some spanish, portuguese, french, chinese, german, everything imaginable. The ethnic diversity is nice. I still haven't really come to terms with where I am yet though. When I walk out of a building and realize I'm surrounded by the red brick and white columns of the ivy league I can't believe I'm a student here. I still feel like a country yokel from little old cow town. It hasn't really sunk in that I belong here. There is a definite difference in some of the people here. The state school people are mostly down to earth, but some of the students from private and ivy league undergrad universities have a certain elitism about them. I hope I don't end up acting that way. Humility hasn't typically been one of my strongsuits but I'll work on it.

Curious? Then read on. If not go watch TV or find some other way to rot your brain :-P
