  Visit to the United Nations

As the title of this entry indicates I went on a tour of the UN this afternoon. Seeing the real life security council meeting room was cool. It was quite worth while and briefly refreshing to listen to the idealism that makes up the UN charter. Of course this was quickly soured by the realization that however noble the UN's goals may be, the organization is marred by inefficiency, corruption, and all the other evils associated with any government. I did get a nice silk tie for a good price in the gift shop at least. As usual, everyone headed to a bar after the event. This time the Gin Mill for happy hour on the upper west side. I went along but decided that having not eaten anything all day, drinking would not be wise. I discretely made my exit and took the subway home to eat left over spaghetti that I made last night. Saving money as well as my liver. Good times. I sat around watching law and order for the rest of the day in something of a funk. I even turned down an offer from a roommate to go play beer pong. I probably should have gone. I start the real orientation tomorrow morning. Oh, I also got my class schedule and section list. For some reason I just don't care right now though. I wonder what my problem is. I'll try to snap out of it tomorrow so I can be nice and smiley for all my new classmates. No use looking like a sour grape if I plan on running for senate.

Curious? Then read on. If not go watch TV or find some other way to rot your brain :-P
