End of 1st Semester Classes
Ok. I made it. Today was the last day of class. It really wasn't too bad. I rather enjoyed it really. Not the missing friends and home and everything, but academically it was enjoyable. I flew back to NY Tuesday morning arriving at 6AM. Shlepped my stuff through the subways, got home at 7:30 or so. No sleep. Set my alarm for 9 and crashed. It didn't go off. I missed torts and civ pro and woke up at 11:30. Whoops. Got up in time to go to hear the head of Amnesty International speak and get pizza for breakfast/lunch. At 6 I went down to the 80's for a cocktail party at my torts professor's house. Good little tasty things and booze. Went with the gin and tonic. Talked to all my professors who were there and some classmates too. Turns out my legal methods professor is the chair of the rules committee that I'm on. It hasn't met yet so I didn't know. Wednesday I woke up jet lagged at 3:45 AM but got straightened out and went to all my classes. In the evening I went to a sort of debate on how to go about funding school systems. It was interesting. Had African food there for dinner. I still don't really like okra. Haven't ever since accidentally over cooking it at Hillel. Anyway, today I went to classes and gave my professors their standing ovations as is the custom here. Some deserved, some less so. Went to a couple TA review sessions and then went to Amsterdam Cafe for a Hillel grad student mixer. Got a martini. The olives were nasty. Now I feel vaguely ill. Oh well. Time to start studying for finals. That'll be the true test of how easy 1L year is. If I get B-'s across the board I'll know I should have worked harder. We'll see in a couple weeks.
