  Chinese New Year

Went to brunch at Lenfest. Nice way to start the day. Good bagels from H&H. Chocolate Babka and Rugelach. And best of all lots of friends and stimulating conversation :-) Renewed a library book on my way home and called lots of people to see if anyone wanted to go to Chinatown. No one was free. Everyone was writing moot court briefs or doing other hw. I should have been doing the same of course. Finally a friend who had previously been unavailable changed his mind and we headed down. There were lots of firecracker sorts of things that shot confetti all over the streets and little parachutes would come down that people would try to catch for good luck. It was very colorful. The streets were lined with confetti and all the stores had bright red accoutrements. Lots of lanterns and streamers. I had promised dim sum so we went pushing through the crowds for several blocks trying to find a suitable restaurant. Found a good one but there was a line out the door so we moved on. The streets were a total mob scene. We saw drummers and dragons and martial artists and floats go by. Eventually we got into another dim sum house and were seated. We got a ridiculously cheap meal but it turned out they wouldn't serve us dim sum. I can't understand why. They served other people. It was weird. We had regular Chinese food instead. It took us so long to get food that I think the parade may have ended by the time we emerged to the street. The whole area was too mobbed to really see anything anyway. Maybe next year I'll plan better and see all the performances and whatnot. It was an experience in any case. Took the subway back uptown and attempted to do work. Too many IMs though. I only have 3 pgs of my moot court brief done. I guess I'll have to do it tomorrow before the deadline. Time to go read the Magna Carta before bed.

Curious? Then read on. If not go watch TV or find some other way to rot your brain :-P
