Met Jim Tierney
Yeah, so I didn't go to crim law this morning. Not realy surprising is it? No. It isn't. I'm very tired right now. Long week. I got up at a reasonable hour anyway because I had a 1 on 1 meeting scheduled with Jim Tierney. He was the Attorney General of Michigan and now he is a consultant to all the AGs and coordinates interstate AG conferences. We discussed political careers and he tried to talk me out of running for office. He failed to convince me. He said he'll set me up with a job at the California AG's office but I'm skeptical. I mean it would be cool if he does, but I don't trust the abilities of connections anymore after being let down once. Went to a CJAN meeting to hear about alternative spring breaks and get pizza for lunch. Then went up to the 8th floor for a Koleinu meeting. Got guilted into helping plan a movie night. Ate lots of M&Ms too. Went to reg state for once but spent the hour playing online poker. Went down to the upper west side to buy a friend a birthday present. Took a while because the trains were running slow so I was late to professor Greenawalt's panel on his new book. It was a very good panel, discussing the place of religion in public schools and in the government. I sat next to professor Fergusson without realizing it, but then we passed some notes during the question and answer period. It's so nice to hear how liberal all the professors are. Warms my heart in these conservative times. Had wine and cheese after and discussed various first ammendment issues with Greenawalt. Tried to catch Dean Kavros but he raced out early. I need him to give me a check for sweatshirts. From the panel I went to the West End for a grad student Hillel get together. Had a beer and shmoozed for a while. Then went to the Terrace in the Sky for Dewey Ballantine's firm reception. It was ok, but rather than make an ass of myself as I intended, I actually hit it off with a few associates and got names and numbers. I highly doubt it will get me anywhere, but I'll send the firm a resume. Can't hurt I suppose. Left the reception to go to Singled Out in Drapkin lounge, sponsored by the student senate. More free beer and dessert platters. It was a pretty good event, people seemsed to have a good time. Came home and played poker/IMed/Emailed. I'm soooo tired. I've stayed up the last few nights until 2 or 3 playing poker. I need to give it a rest tonight. I'll stay up researching for my interview tomorrow instead.
