Why Drinking and Poker Don't Mix

Accidentally slept through my Crim class this morning. No, really. It was an accident this time. I intended to go. I swear! I'm not sure how it happened yet. Either my alarm didn't go off, or it did but I didn't hear it. It's on the other side of the room, I couldn't have turned it off without getting up (strategery). So I woke up at 11 and was shocked. Got myself together and went to the firm lunch. Had just sat down to eat when I got a phone call. It was a friend asking where the senate meeting was. Oops! I had completely forgotten that too. Took my lunch and went to the meeting. Things went as usual. Skipped Reg State to do Con Law reading because it was long today. Con Law was interesting. 3 more phone calls later the dry cleaner sent someone to pick up my clothes. Ridiculously bad service. I hear the rest are even worse. Went by cab to the Hudson Hotel for drinks with Willkie Farr & Gallagher. The hotel was very nice, our reception was in the library. They were supposed to reimburse our cab fare, but that involved sending us checks in the mail. Not impressed. Such a hassle. I had 6 cocktails and was quite buzzed. The bartender was good. A brandy alexander, a grasshopper, hurricane, a blue hawaii, a b52, and a mango something or other that was the house specialty. Cabbed back home and played poker with the dowstairs guys until 12:30. Lost 20 bucks. I deserved it for playing after 6 drinks. Considering I'm lucky to break even playing on water, this was less than brilliant. I should really at least read up and memorize probabilities if I'm going to be stupid. Bummer.

Curious? Then read on. If not go watch TV or find some other way to rot your brain :-P
