Quinn Emanuel
Slept through my alarm yesterday and missed Perspectives. Felt pretty bad about it. A friend was nice enough to send me notes. Threw my whole schedule off too. Meant to go to class, then the gym, then lunch. Just caught up at lunch instead. It was at Faculty House with Quinn Emanuel and it was pretty cool. Usual boxed sandwiches and all but they handed out sandals and t-shirts too. Kinda fun. Instead of jabbering away the attorneys gave us a very to-the-point session on how to cross examine a witness by showing us movie clips including clips from My Cousin Vinnie (a personal fav of mine). Went to reg state after lunch and tried to read con law during class. Finished up in the drapkin lounge during the break. Still working on abortion cases, Roe the day before and now Planned Parenthood v Casey. Con law was fairly interesting as usual and I got some good new via email besides. Microsoft wants to fly me out to Washington for a callback interview! Very exciting. Current status is that Microsoft and BD look promising, I doubt I'll get an offer from the Chilean firm, and two departments of Brooklyn Legal Services are trying to set up interviews with me: Comprehensive Rights Unit serving the HIV infected and affected in Kings County and the is trying to set up an interview as possibly is Human Rights First. Also I just got a call from the Israeli Delegation to the UN and they set up an interview with me for Tuesday to possibly work as a speech writer. Sounds interesting. With all these possibilities someone has to hire me. I hope. Or I can live in a cardboard box this summer. We'll see. Anyway, back to yesterday's happenings. Got quarters in the afternoon and helped a friend grocery shop and then had a snack at his place. Then at 6:30 there was an IP law panel in JG102. Started out excrutiatingly boring but picked up from there. Got an attorney's card since I keep running into her and maybe it will help come EIP in August. There are worse things in the world than working for Paul Weiss. There was a reception after the panel in Drapkin lounge. Went through a Seagrams 7, a (very bad) apple martini, and a (relatively bad) Bordeaux. The food wasn't great so I took off with a buddy for the Quinn Emanuel reception at Le Monde. A little better fare. Had an almaretto sour and a midori sour. Midori is nasty. Note to self, stop drinking green things. Went to a friend’s place after and tried to get ie cream but it had closed an hour previously. Ended up trading her a canoli for some sewing work. We ended up playing some trivial pursuit with my roommates too.
